Radford, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - There are multiple reports out of western Virginia that Delegate Chris Hurst (D-Giles), who is up for re-election, has been cited for driving while suspended. This reportedly occurred during an incident where a woman was allegedly spotted vandalizing campaign signs.
The Radford City Sheriff told multiple outlets that one of his deputies spotted the woman damaging the signs, then get into a car. Radford Police, according to the Sheriff, then made the stop, and cited Delegate Hurst. The Radford Sheriff is a Republican.
Hurst was pulled over last year on suspicion of drunk driving.
Hurst's seat is one of several competitive seats being targeted for a potential flip of control of the House of Delegates. Radford City Police confirm on Facebook an incident took place but do not name names. They say they've turned it over to State Police, who say they cannot comment.
