Sandston, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Delegate Lamont Bagby (D-Henrico) became the first of what appears to several Democrats jumping into the Fourth Congressional District Race. State Senator Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) and State Senator Joe Morrissey (D-Petersburg) are expected to get in on Tuesday. The Governor has set Election Day for February 21st, meaning parties are going to need to chose their candidates potentially before Christmas.

Bagby says he spoke to former Congressman Donald McEachin's wife, Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney Colette McEachin, about him running. Bagby says he did not ask for an endorsement. Bagby says he plans to run on issue McEachin was fighting for, as well as stressing education, and attacking predatory lending.

McEachin died at the end of November, just weeks after winning re-election. He had been battling cancer for much of a decade.
