Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Democrats' big wins in Virginia on Tuesday are to lead to abortion being a major issue in the 2024 Election as well. Abortion featured prominently in the most competitive races, including the Siobhan Dunnavant (R) - Schuyler VanValkenburg (D) race in Henrico, won by VanValkenburg.
Virginia political expert Bob Holsworth says Democrats will continue to use the issue until it no longer works. He expects with complete control of the General Assembly, Democrats will try to put abortion rights into the State Constitution. Amendments do not face a potential veto from the Governor.
Abortion rights also proved to be a successful issue in Ohio, where voters did place abortion rights into their state constitution.
