Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - By 7pm Tuesday, Election 2023 will be over, and it will be time to start counting votes. Virginia Political Experts Roberts Roberts (James Madison University) and Stephen Farnsworth (University of Mary Washington) believe control of the General Assembly will be determined in the outer suburbs.
Roberts is looking, in particular, at three House of Delegates races outside of Washington (the 21st, the 22nd, and the 30th). Roberts says Democrats will need to sweep those to have a chance at winning the House of Delegates. He also has a close eye on the Senate race in Williamsburg featuring State Senator Monty Mason (D) and former York Sheriff Danny Diggs (R).
Farnsworth also is paying attention to Northern Virginia and Henrico. He calls this a "jump ball" election, and isn't sure which way the results will turn. He, and Roberts, both compliment the Governor on the support campaign he's run.
