Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Commissioner of Elections says they are meeting regularly with the Postal Service, and that they have been assured ballots are being prioritized. Commissioner Christopher Piper made the comments as the deadline for applying for a mail-in ballot is approaching next Friday. The application must be in by Friday, October 22nd, at 5pm, for you to receive a ballot in the mail.

There have been reports of issues with mail delivery in Virginia, particularly Charlottesville, but also Richmond and elsewhere. Piper stresses the if you have concerns about the mail, you have other options for delivery, including election dropboxes and taking it to a polling place on Election Day.

A mail-in ballot has to be received by the Friday after Election Day, at noon, for it to count. It also has to be post-marked by Election Day.
