Washington, D.C. (Newsradiowrva.com ) - Senator Tim Kaine (D) says the Virginia Congressional delegation and Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) will be making their final case to the FBI and General Services Administration this week. The delegation wants the FBI to move its headquarters to Springfield in northern Virginia.
The FBI is looking to move out of its Washington headquarters, which is deteriorating. Springfield is competing with two Maryland sites. Virginia argues the Springfield is the best fit because of its proximity to Quantico. The federal government also owns the location as well. Springfield is also minority-majority and meets the the equity criteria as well, according to Kaine.
The FBI has been considering moving for over a decade.
