Richmond, Va (NewsradioWRVA.com) - The first winter storm of the season started as rain, but is now snow for much of the metro Richmond area. Andrew Freiden with NBC12 says that, in general, there's expected to be two to five inches of snow before the storm exits by mid afternoon. Freiden says there's more expected north and west of Richmond and not as much expected south and east.
State Police have reported accidents on roadways and urge you to be careful if you have to be out. If you do, slow down and increase the distance between yourself and other vehicles.
After the storm leaves, there's very cold temperatures in store for tonight. Tonight's low is expected to be in the teens. That could make for some tricky driving tomorrow with possible slick spots.
