Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Health Department says nearly one year into the pandemic, Virginia has its first Covid death in a child under age 10. The Health Department says the child had a chronic health condition and was from the Central Virginia region.
The department could not release additional information. Cases like this are rare but not impossible. There have been 80 Covid deaths in kids under age 5.
The Health Department continues to stress prevention measures such as masks, social distancing, and hand washing.
