Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The State Forestry Department says there were 150 wildfires in March, burning more than 1,400 acres. Virginia's spring fire season is the more problematic of the two fire seasons, and burning debris is limited until after 4pm.
State Forestry Department Spokesman Cory Swift-Turner says while the season has been average, they are concerned because it is warm, and there are winds. Swift-Turner says they are asking people to please give some thought to when they burn, and to possibly wait until there has been some rain.
Spring fire season runs through the end of April.
