Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Susan Beals, Governor Glenn Youngkin's newly appointed Elections Commissioner, is now getting support from the man she replaced. Chris Piper was not re-appointed by Youngkin, but says in a tweet that he has heard from colleagues that Beals is a "class act."
The support comes as Beals is facing opposition from both sides of the aisle. Some Democrats have raised concerns because Beals is a former Legislative Aide to State Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield). Chase has pursued unfounded claims about the 2020 election for a year and a half. Chase herself does not support Beals because she says Beals does not support a full forensic audit of the 2020 election.
Youngkin appointed Beals to the position Friday, after choosing not to reappoint Piper.
