Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Hanover Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Northumberland man who formerly worked as a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputy for alleged sex crimes involving a minor.
The arrest was made as part of an undercover operation with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant Steven Willis with the sheriff’s office says deputies arrested 29-year-old Motley Allen Haynie on July 25.
Around July 18, Haynie initiated conversation with an undercover deputy who was posing as a minor online. Authorities say Haynie and the undercover investigator eventually made plans to meet up for sex. Haynie believed the person he was talking with was a teenager.
Deputies then issued a warrant and arrested Haynie in Richmond on July 25. He is being charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor, solicitation of child pornography and taking indecent liberties of a minor.
