Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond area is likely to break its record average gas price shortly. AAA says the current average is $4.23 a gallon, one cent off the record of $4.24. Gas prices also do not appear likely to drop anytime soon.
AAA Spokesman Morgan Dean says the culprit is high crude oil prices. He says there is speculation going on in the oil markets, as the European Union is looking to move away from Russian oil because of the Ukrainian invasion. Dean also says the adjustment to summer blends of gasoline may be impacting gas prices.
The Virginia average for a gallon of gas is actually lower than Richmond's at $4.22 a gallon. The Virginia record in $4.25.
