Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Virginia is among the top 10 states in the largest downward slides in gas prices week-to-week and is now sitting at $3.17 a gallon. Richmond's average is $3.12, down 11 cents from the previous week.

The main reason for the decrease is that the price of oil is dropping. AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman Morgan Dean says that recently, the price of oil was $80 a barrel. Now it's low-to-mid 70s.

With warmer weather on the way, Dean says that prices will most likely climb as demand grows. Prices may also go up because of the switch over to the summer blend of gasoline, which is more expensive to make. Some areas may switch over to the summer blend starting next month.
