Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - More than six months late, the Virginia General Assembly has finally passed budget amendments. The package was agreed to on a heavily bi-partisan basis Wednesday afternoon.
Lawmakers were not allowed to make any changes, which led to a few objections from the minority Democrats in the House of Delegates in the House and minority Republicans in the State Senate. The deal was agreed to last month.
With the package now passed, Virginians will be receiving tax rebates by the end of November. The totals will be $200 for individuals and $400 for couples. The standard deduction is also being increased and the sales tax holiday is resuming next month.
