Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) is calling lawmakers back to Richmond April 4th to finish the budget. The General Assembly left on March 12th without agreeing to a spending plan, hung up on disagreements over tax cuts.

Youngkin is looking for a package of tax cuts, including doubling the standard deduction, eliminating the grocery tax, and suspending the state gas tax for three months. Senate Democrats prefer to study the deduction, do a partial grocery tax repeal, and worry about the impact on the transportation fund with the gas tax.

Youngkin is planning to run ads to lobby for his proposals.
