Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia State Police confirm Del. Matt Fariss (R-Campbell) has been charged with hit and run and reckless driving, as well as a count of malicious wounding. The charges relate to an accident that occurred March 2nd.
Police say a woman was injured when a Chevy Tahoe, believed to be driven by Fariss, crossed the centerline of Route 501 in Campbell County. State Police say the vehicle struck the pedestrian after going off the road. They accuse the driver of then leaving the scene. The woman suffered minor injuries.
Fariss turned himself in the next day and has been released on bond. Fariss has been a delegate since 2011, and is a member of the Appropriations Committee, which writes the budget.
