Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has issued an executive order, banning TikTok and WeChat from state devices and networks. The ban covers Executive Offices and Executive Agencies, as well as well as state contractors.

Youngkin calls the apps a national security risk. Both are owned by ByteDance Limited or Tencent Holdings Limited, which are Chinese Companies. There are concerns that the companies could be required to share data with the Chinese Government, data such as location services and browsing history.

Other Republican Governors have issued similar bans. The executive order requires TikTok be off of state devices by New Year's Eve.
