Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Just as Washington, D.C., was announcing it was reinstating its indoor mask mandate, Governor Ralph Northam, in a series of tweets, asked Virginians to consider wearing masks indoors. The changes come as the CDC is revising its guidance to recommend masks for everyone indoors in areas of substantial transmission.
Northam says it isn't a requirement, but a recommendation. He says masks are effective in preventing the spread of Covid-19. However, he adds the only way to truly end the pandemic is to get vaccinated.
Virginia had a mask mandate until mid-May, when Northam dropped it to match CDC guidance at that time.
