Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Governor Ralph Northam has signed or amended multiple bills on Friday, expanding early voting as well as making it official that the Harry Byrd statue will be leaving Capitol Square.

Northam signed the bill that authorized the removal of the Byrd Statue. Byrd, a former Governor and longtime Senator, was also the force behind "Massive Resistance," which opposed integration.m Northam also signed bills that allow localities to do Sunday early voting, and remove the witness signature requirement in a public health emergency. A court removed the requirement for 2020.

The General Assembly returns in April to deal with the Governor's amendements and vetoes.
