Stafford, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has signed an executive directive today aimed at getting additional teachers into classrooms. The Governor signed the directive during a visit to Colonial Forge High School in Stafford County.
At its most basic, the executive directive aims to get licenses into people's hands faster. Youngkin says he's aiming to make it easier for out-of-state teachers to get Virginia licenses, as well as retired teachers, and teachers who have moved to other jobs. The directive comes as a number of districts are facing trouble filing vacancies.
Youngkin also announced a pilot program with 15 school districts aimed at reversing learning loss during Covid.
