
Buchanan, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Younkin (R) says he will ask the Federal Government for assistance for the flood damage in Buchanan County. The Governor toured the damage Friday and called it extensive.
Youngkin praised the work of those in Buchanan, helping their neighbors recover. There have been no flood-related fatalities and only limited injuries. Several inches of rain fell in the county Tuesday into Wednesday.
Damage assessments are just underway but its believed hundreds of structures have been impacted. As of 4pm, VDEM said 114 buildings had damage, and they still had 30% of the survey to go. Of that number, 25 structures were completely destroyed.
The county also had a major mountain flood just last year.
