Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin addressed the Chesapeake mass shooting, following a Thanksgiving-themes event at a Richmond area food bank. Youngkin said "our hearts are just completely broken yet again." This shooting comes just a week and a half after the shooting on the UVA grounds that killed three football players.
The Republican praised the efforts of local law enforcement. Youngkin called it a horrendous incident. But he also said the job today is to support families, and that will be time later to react and understand what happened.
Virginia did tighten several gun laws while the General Assembly was under Democratic control in 2020 and 2021.
