Emporia, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Greensville County High School students were dismissed at 9am Thursday morning, over concerns about safety. Superintendent Kelvin Edwards stated on Facebook that they had become aware of events in the community that they wanted to keep out of the school. Edwards stresses the school was safe and secure.
The Greensville County Sheriff's Department says it is investigating the shooting death of teenage boy on Wednesday evening. The department says the incident began as an altercation between passengers in two cars in Sussex County, and ended with the shooting in Greensville. State police and both sheriff's departments are investigating.
Edwards says he apologies for the inconvenience closing school caused.
