Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Despite the high profile killing of three UVA football players, a mass shooting in Chesapeake, and last week, the shooting of a teacher by a six-year old, a Virginia political expert does not see any gun control passing the General Assembly this session. James Madison University Political Scientist Robert Roberts says at best, he thinks there may be some movement on liability for people whose guns are used in crimes. However, even there, he doesn't believe it is that likely.

Roberts expects Democrats to push the liability issue in light of last week's shooting at Richneck Elementary in Newport News, where a six year old shot a teacher. However, he says Republicans are far too opposed to gun control for it to find a possibility of it making it through the House of Delegates, which is GOP-controlled.

Roberts believes the budget amendments will be the major issue this session, as Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) pushes to get an income tax cut on the top end of the brackets. A large number of Virginians fit into the top bracket.
