Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Hanover County is in urgent need for foster parents, especially those able to accommodate higher-need foster children.
Right now, Hanover has 53 children in foster care, a significant number of whom need stable foster homes. This is the highest number in 14 years, according to the Hanover Department of Special Services. Factors for this increase include economic issues, rising poverty, broader mental health issues, and the Pandemic.
The Hanover DSS says they are in urgent need of families who can foster children, especially children with behavior issues. If you are unable to foster a child but still want to help, they say there are plenty of other volunteer options. Anyone interested can contact Devon Palmer at 804-365-4135.
