Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - For the second time in two years, an appointee of Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) has run into trouble with State Senate Democrats. On Tuesday, Senator Creigh Deeds pulled the name of State Health Commissioner Colin Greene from the list of appointees to be approved.
Greene ran into controversy last year over comments he made regarding maternal mortality rates and race. Greene could still be approved but for now his future is up in the air. Senate Democrats also pulled a selection for the University of Virginia Board of Visitors.
Last year, Democrats rejected Youngkin's choice for Natural Resources Secretary, Andrew Wheeler. Wheeler had been EPA Chief under President Donald Trump.
