Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Stressing that this is not a "normal" school year, and that there are stresses and anxiety, Henrico Schools has approved several calendar changes for this year. The changes include two early-release days between now and the winter break, and the potential of four Fridays off on the back half of the year.
Henrico will now have early-release days on November 19th and December 10th. If snow and ice do not cut into the school district's banked time, there will also be Fridays off on March 11th, April 1 (the Friday before Spring Break), May 27th (the Friday before Memorial day), and June 17 (which would have been the last day of school). The district is also adding flexibilities to Wednesdays to focus on academic and emotional needs.
Henrico says it did not do things like take an entire week at Thanksgiving, or during Election week, because it did not want to run out of banked time and have to make snow days virtual school days.
