Henrico Police Investigate Bike-Up Shooting

Henrico County, VA (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Just before 7 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, a shooting took place near the intersection of Parkview Avenue and E. Laburnum Avenue, in the 600 block of E. Laburnum Avenue.

An adult male driver was in a sedan, and an adult male suspect arrived on a bicycle when the two engaged one another. During their interaction, shots were fired into the vehicle. The driver then left the scene towards Parkview Avenue and was later located at Carolina Avenue and Meadowbridge Road in Richmond City. The driver succumbed to his injuries on scene. The suspect fled on his bicycle towards Richmond-Henrico Turnpike on Laburnum Avenue.

While law enforcement partners with Richmond Police secured the scene and began investigating this deadly incident, the original location was determined to be in Henrico County. Henrico Police worked with Richmond and is assuming the lead into this homicide investigation.

The victim was identified as 51-year-old Hassan Dixon.

Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect involved. He is described as a black male, wearing black tennis shoes with white soles, dark longer styled shorts, a grey hooded sweatshirt, a baseball hat with a white top and dark brim with a circular sticker, and a camouflage backpack.

As the crime scene spanned across jurisdictions at rather busy intersections, detectives believe some additional witnesses may have information leading up to this incident.
