Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 17-year-old was found dead in a backyard of a home near a county elementary school.
Just after 6 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, police were called to a house in the 3300 block of Reynolds Road, near Harold Macon Ratcliffe Elementary, for a report of a person shot.
Once on the scene, officers discovered a 17-year-old boy with obvious signs of a trauma in the backyard of the home.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Several roads in the area were closed while officials investigated, but they have since reopened.
The boy’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Police are working with Henrico County Public Schools due to the fact that the boy was found near an elementary school.
