Henrico County, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com ) - On Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 3:58 p.m., Henrico Police responded to the intersection of Quarter Mill Road and Copper Creek Lane for the report of a vehicle vs bicyclist crash. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spoke with the victim, an adult male, who stated he was traveling westbound on Quarter Mill Road when the driver of a vehicle traveling eastbound turned north onto Copper Creek Lane in front of the bicyclist.

This action by the driver caused the cyclist to crash into the rear of the vehicle, ejecting him off the bicycle and into the intersection.

The driver, of what is described as a possible 2010 maroon sedan with a dirty appearance, fled the scene on Copper Creek Lane towards Mayland Drive. The suspect vehicle is missing a piece of the right rear brake light.

The victim was transported to the hospital with several non-life-threatening injuries.

With the warm weather underway, Henrico Police want to remind drivers to share the road and understand bicyclists and motorcyclists have the same rights as you.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who may have witnessed the crash, is urged to contact Det. Hazelgrove at 804-501-5000. Those with information may call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000 or online at P3Tips.com. Both methods remain anonymous.
