Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico Police are telling certain Kia and Hyundai owners to use wheel locks, contact their dealership, and if possible, park in a garage. There have been 18 reports of thefts involving the brands since August 9th, specifically of cars manufactured between 2010 and 2021 that use regular keys.
This is apparently tied to a social media trend showing how easy it is to steal the vehicles. Often, significant damage is done to the steering column.
The two brands are being sued over the trend and the thefts as they are occurring nationally.
