Henrico County, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Henrico County is no different than any other entity that wants to hire right now. Employers in various aspects of county government are finding it hard to find qualified candidates.

That's why Henrico has started the Encore program, which will help fill some of those key positions with retired county government employees. They would serve in temporary part-time positions, not exceeding 29 hours per week. Under the program, those who are re-hired will be at the hourly rate they received at the time of their retirement.

The departments that will take advantage of this will be the Police and Fire divisions, 911 communications, the Sheriff's Department and Mental Health and Developmental Services.

For example, Police Chief Eric English said he would use the program to re-hire retirees to serve as relief school resource officers.

The jobs that are open now can be found at the county recruitment website.
