Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico Police says the officer involved in Wednesday night's fatal shooting is a woman with just over two years on the force. Police did not identify her by name, although they did identify the person killed as Malachai Carroll, 20, of Henrico. Lieutenant Matt Pecka also said the officer did have a body camera.
Pecka says it is still early in the investigation. Henrico Police say Carroll was shot after they claim he had a knife and went after another individual and an officer.
The shooting took place in the Highland Springs area of Henrico. The officer involved is on administrative leave
