Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Henrico County School Board has approved two new schematic designs for buildings that will replace Jackson Davis Elementary and Longan Elementary.
Construction is set to begin next fall and be complete by the start of the 2026 school year. The new buildings will have a number of future-focused features, including collaborative learning spaces and higher student capacity.
HCPS will hold community meetings and PTA-based meetings to gather feedback and finetune the designs approved at the September 14 school board meeting.
Davis Elementary is located in the Three Chopt District at 8801 Nesslewood Drive, and Logan Elementary is located in the Brookland District at 9200 Mapleview Avenue. The new schools will be built adjacent to the current buildings, so students will be able to remain in the current buildings while construction is taking place.
HCPS will use money from the 2022 Henrico Bond Referendum and the county’s Capital Improvement Plan budget to fund the projects.
