Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A student at Henrico High School is in critical but stable condition after a stabbing at the school on Wednesday.

It happened during a “serious altercation” between two male students on Wednesday, Dec. 4 just before 12:30 p.m. The School Resource Officer was on the scene right after police were called. The other student was taken to a different hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The school was placed on lockdown after the incident, but police said there was no threat to other students. School officials and police said that the altercation is believed to be an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the altercation.

“We understand the concern many parents may have regarding this incident,” said Henrico Chief of Police Eric D. English in a statement shared Wednesday afternoon. “Please know we will work as quickly and thoroughly as possible to determine what led up to this incident. The safety and security of our students and administrators is our top priority.”
