Illuminate Light Show & Santa's Village. Virginia’s largest drive-through synchronized Christmas light and music show takes place at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31, 2024. Open rain or shine and on all holidays. More information here.
47th Annual Model Railroad Show. Taking place Friday, Nov. 29 – Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia. This event showcases scaled locomotives riding through intricate landscapes and miniature cities, a blacksmith on site, live demos and more. Admission information can be found here.
Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Select nights November 18, 2024 - January 5, 2025. This annual spectacle features one million lights, hand-crafted botanical decorations, model trains and more. Visitors can also see illuminated figures throughout the grounds and a live 20-foot Christmas tree inside the Conservatory. More information here.
Santa’s Wonderland at Bass Pro Shops. Bring your family to your local Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s for a Santa’s Wonderland experience. Enjoy a complimentary 4x6 photo with Santa and a shareable video of your visit. Reservations are highly recommended.
Richmond Grand Illumination. Happening on Friday, December 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kanawha Plaza, 701 E. Canal Street. Enjoy food trucks and performances by Desire Roots, AJ Jones, and The Falcon Notes of Huguenot High School, with DJ Lonnie B bringing the holiday soundtrack. Details here.
41st annual Dominion Energy Christmas Parade. On Saturday, December 7, starting at 10:15am, watch colorful floats, marching bands and more make their way down Broad Street. The Christmas Parade begins at the Science Museum of Virginia, travels eastbound on Broad Street, and concludes at 7th Street near the Richmond Coliseum.
Movies at the Byrd. Over the next few weeks, the historic Carytown theater will be showing Love Actually, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street and more.
WinterFest at Kings Dominion. On select nights Nov. 29 through Jan. 4, Kings Dominion transforms into a winter wonderland. The Eiffel Tower will become a 300-foot-tall Christmas tree, and the fountain on International Street will become one of the largest ice-skating rinks in the area.
