
Richmond, Va (NewsradioWRVA.com) - The 65th annual Commonwealth's Veterans Day Ceremony was held Thursday morning at the Virginia War Memorial honoring those who have served. Governor Ralph Northam said in taped comments during the ceremony that Virginia is home to over 700,000 veterans. One in twelve Virginians have worn the uniform of our country.
Virginia Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner John Maxwell says that Veterans Day is always a special day because those who wore the uniform of the United States military because their sacrifice has allowed the country to grow and flourish during times of war and peace.
Virginia War Memorial Executive Director Clay Mountcastle also said that an exhibit is opening at the memorial to commemorate 32 people who have served in the military. The exhibit is called "Who They Were: Lives Worth Knowing".
