Hopewell, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Hopewell police have arrested a man in connection with a string of incidents over the weekend.
On Saturday, March 15 at around 11:15 p.m., Hopewell Telecommunications received a grand larceny call in the 200 block of East Broadway. The victim reported that an unknown suspect took their cell phone by force and fled in an unknown direction.
The following day, police responded to a robbery in the 200 block of East Broadway. According to police, the suspect entered a home, assaulted the victim and stole multiple personal belongings — including a cell phone. While in the residence, officers also recovered the phone that had been stolen earlier.
About an hour later, at 1:30 a.m., police responded to a larceny and sexual assault in the 1200 block of City Point Road. Police said the suspect entered a building, encountered the victim, and committed a sexual assault before stealing multiple items, including a cell phone.
The suspect – Regenald Conwell, 21, of Hopewell – is now in custody. Conwell faces multiple charges, including felony aggravated malicious wounding. He’s being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail.
“Our officers worked diligently through the night to respond to these incidents, secure evidence, and assist the victims,” said Chief Gregory Taylor. “Their dedication and swift action reflect their commitment to protecting our community. We will continue to pursue all leads to ensure justice is served.”
