Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Just days after a Senate sub-Committee rejected limiting sports participation to biological sex, a House of Delegates sub-committee supported such limits. The State Senate is controlled by Democrats, and the House of Delegates by Republicans.
Supporters of the limits say it is unfair for girls and women to have to compete against transgender woman, because of hormones and muscle mass. Opponents say there are very few transgender athletes, and the children do not care about having to compete against them.
Given the Senate has already rejected the proposal, it is unlikely to pass the General Assembly.
