Richmond, Va. - Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida this afternoon, already causing devastation with powerful storm surges and winds over 150 miles per hour. Here in Virginia, however, the storm's remnants likely wont arrive until Friday.
NBC12's Nick Russo says that rains associated with Hurricane Ian are likely to arrive "late in the day Friday," continuing through Saturday and potentially lingering through Sunday and Monday. This is enough to present a risk for some local flooding.
Chances of the hurricane bringing other risks, like severe weather or heavy winds, remain relatively low. Russo said, however, that at this point he is unwilling to completely rule out the threat of an isolated tornado.
