Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA Mid-Atlantic says it is possible we may see some gas price spikes as a result of Hurricane Ida. How bad the spikes may be, and how long they last, cannot be determined until the damage from the Hurricane is assessed.
Spokesman Morgan Dean says at least four refineries in the path of the storm shut down. Dean also says the Colonial Pipeline also shut down two lines as a precaution, although they hope to have them up and running as soon as they are inspected. Dean warns against any panic buying.
One thing that may help the situation is that demand has actually been down recently, as people have curtailed travel as school as gotten underway in some places.
