Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Central Virginia today is under a "Fire Weather Warning" from the National Weather Service. What it means is that there is an increased danger of any fire getting out of control today because of the weather conditions.

NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says the conditions today will be dry, warm, and breezy. The dew point temperature will be low, and in addition, vegetation has not completely greened yet. There will be sufficient fuel to burn.

It has been an abnormally dry start to the year, although our water sources remain filled. There is a burn ban in effect than bans burning of debris before 4pm. This occurs every spring, which is the more problematic of our two fire seasons.
