Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - It's July, but it's also race weekend here in Richmond. NASCAR is holding its earliest second race in Richmond ever this weekend, with races Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Richmond used to hold what was know as the "race before the Chase," in September, but a schedule shift moved the second race to August last year. This year's schedule moved the race back even earlier.
Raceway President Lori Waran says the time pressures to get a second race off have not been difficult, and they always start planning for the next race right after the last one ends. She says tickets are still available, and while temperatures are very hot right now, Waran says the heat will be on the track during the races.
