Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Company executives and Governor Youngkin officially broke ground on the Lego factory to be built in Chesterfield.

The factory will be the company's first in the United States, and by its opening in 2025 it's expected to have brought at least 1,761 jobs to Chesterfield. Lego C.O.O. Carsten Rasmussen expressed his excitement for the manufacturing to start in Virginia, talking about encountering the phrase "Virginia is for lovers" during his first visit to Richmond and saying he's come to realize there's "much to love about Virginia."

The plant is set to be carbon neutral, and work on the site has already begun. At the groundbreaking, Governor Youngkin also signed bills authorizing the manufacture of Lego products in Virginia soil, saying he wants "made in America" to mean "made in Virginia."
