Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden has announced $31 million in plans to add nearly eight acres of new gardens, almost double the size of its conservatory.

The two-year project, known as “Thrive,” comes during the Garden’s 40th anniversary of operations. Features set to come to the Garden as part of the expansion include a new lake, a wildlife habitat and a living classroom.

In a press release, CEO and President Brian Trader said the expansion will help support the Garden’s mission of serving the community.

“The reason behind the expansion is to better serve our community and beyond,” Trader said. “The Garden has seen dramatic growth and a reach extending across the Commonwealth. Thrive is the natural next step in the Garden’s work supporting lifelong learning and environmental sustainability.”

More details about the project can be found here.
