Richmond, Va (Newsradiowrva.com)- As gas prices have reportedly stabilized nationally, they are anything but stable here in Richmond. According to AAA, just in the past month, gas in the commonwealth has went from the highest it’s ever been, back down to $3.98 and right back up to $4.13.
Today, Richmond’s average gas price is $4.09. Morgan Dean, AAA’s mid Atlantic spokesperson, also reminded us that crude oil prices make up more than 50% of the price drivers pay at the pump.
Dean said that for the last couple of weeks the demand for gas has been lower, which could contribute to the lower prices, but the price of crude oil per barrel is still fairly high, keeping the national gas average at $4.24.
Dean said that although prices are fluctuating locally, the commonwealth’s gas average is 13 cents below our peak average, which has $4.25 that we hit on March 11th.
According to Morgan Dean, there’s no telling what’s to come in the few weeks after China imposes restrictions due to COVID and more uncertainty due to war continues.
