Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A fatal shooting on Interstate 64 is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, state troopers found a car crashed off the side of the highway near the Mechanicsville Turnpike exit. The man inside was found with a gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital.
The highway surrounding the scene was temporarily shut down after state police arrived, but those lanes were reopened earlier this morning.
This shooting remains under investigation.
Captain Brien Frey of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation urges anyone with information regarding the crash or the circumstances surrounding the incident to come forward.
"We are asking the community for assistance in solving this case. If you witnessed anything suspicious or have any relevant information, please contact us immediately," Frey said. "Your help could be crucial in bringing justice to the victim and his family."
