Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police have arrested the suspect in a violent assault that occurred in Shockoe in late March.
A woman was walking on North 19th street late in the evening of March 26 when a man she didn't know reportedly assaulted her, strangling her and injuring her leg. Police had been looking for suspects in the case, and tips from the community led them to name Ladell Holmes as a suspect. They say this is corroborated by security footage of the assault.
Holmes was apprehended in a hotel last night by fourth precinct detectives and was arrested without incident. Though police initially discussed the incident as an aggravated assault, charges against Holmes have now been elevated to attempted murder. Police say this was due to additional information and a meeting with the commonwealth's attorney.
