Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Co ngresswoman-elect Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) says it may take a week or so to go the 90 miles from Richmond to the U-S Capitol. McClellan says procedurally, she has to wait until the State Elections Department communicates her win to the House of Representatives. On Wednesday, a day after the election. McClellan compared returning to the Senate on Wednesday as approaching high school graduation. McClellan becomes the first African-American woman elected to Congress from Virginia. She succeeds the late Congressman Donald McEachin, who died shortly after winning re-election in November.
