Mechanicsville, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The U.S. Department of Justice says a Mechanicsville man was arrested last Friday on several charges related to the Janaury sixth insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Geoffrey Sills, 30, faces a number of charges, not limited to assault on an officer using a dangerous weapon, and violent entry.

The DOJ says it has video evidence of Sills being among the first rioters to enter the Capitol that day. Law enforcement says among the video evidence is video from Sills' own instagram account. They also say Sills threw poles at officers outside the Capitol, and then used an extended baton and strobe light on officers inside.

Sills is one of close to 500 people arrested in connection to the January 6th attack.
